Lunch with Laura at Pink Pony
My friend Laura and I had lunch this week at Pink Pony on Orchard Street - a bit of an institution for the Lower East Side. While waiting for her to arrive I had a few moments to wander around with my camera. The light at the time was perfect for capturing the peaceful atmosphere. Laura and I both work as freelancers (Laura is widely published writer, take a look at her new website!). She often writes about food and as you know I'm often photographing food so we tend to catch up over - wait for it - food!

Pink Lady Food Photography Competition
The Pink Lady Food Photography Competition announced it's winners on Tuesday at the reception in London which I regrettably was not able to attend. But I'm so proud one of my images was chosen as a finalist from over 3,000 entries from over 60 countries. Check out the images here. My photo is the image of the hens, Food in the Field category. This image was part of my final editorial portfolio when I graduated from NESOP in 2010 and was shot at Pete and Jen's Backyard Birds in Concord, MA. Thanks Pete and Jen and the lovely feathered ladies that modeled for me!

Cross Processed
Cross processed film is always an experiment - every frame comes out totally different, even if you shoot under the exact same conditions. Apps for phones mimic the look but nothing is as cool as the real thing. These are some shots from a roll of color slide film I shot recently while out and about enjoying New York.

Chefs and Photographers Unite!
This past Saturday was a beautiful afternoon with wonderful light - perfect for shooting food! I attended a Kitchensurfing meet-up at Ger-Nis. Chefs and photographers came together to collaborate on photography. The bright colors of spring were popping!

When Life Gives You Lemons...
Set up a photo shoot! Recently I was in Sarasota and my friend's mom gave her a big bag of lemons from the tree in her yard. I loved how beautifully imperfect the organic citrus was. Jess decided to make lemonade and I set up an impromptu lifestyle shoot at the same time. Click the first image for a slideshow of out-takes.
