Dear Photo Gods. Forgive me, for I have sinned...

Yes, it's true. I have committed the cardinal sin of not updating this in forever. I've been busy though! Recently, up in Boston I shot some photos for Row 34, Island Creek Oyster's new spot. Some of the photos are on their website (along with some shots that are not mine) and a bunch have are being used for marketing and are showing up all over the internet on food and restaurant websites. Last week was one of my favorite shots on GQ.com. It was a really great shoot and so much fun to spend time and catch up with my ICO buds.

Food Republic had a fun week of postings with guest editor Andrew Carmellini a few weeks ago. I was lucky enough to get to shoot, and then eat, Locanda Verde pastry chef Nancy Tran's ridiculously good Black Truffle Tartufo. Words can do it no justice. Hopefully my pictures do.
After Laura and I had at it...

I made myself run an extra mile that day :-/

Later that week I also got to shoot and indulge in some fantastic cheese plates at Lafayette and back at Locanda again.

Also on Food Republic recently, a post that I really enjoyed was a series of photos by Mark Menjivar. An exploration of the contents of people's fridges. Take a look on his site.

Summer Solciste in the Garden

After much finger crossing and praying to the Gods for nice weather, June 21st, the 2013 Summer Solciste turned out to be the loveliest of evenings. My friends Laura and Kirsten threw a garden party at Laura's LES apartment to celebrate the longest day of the year with good friends, food, cocktails and bocce. Chad, beverage manager at The Dutch and recently named member of Zagat's 30 under 30 (whoohoo! congratulations!), designed a specialty aquavit cocktail for everyone to enjoy. Laura popped her famous popcorn. Kirsten orchestrated some rousing rounds of bocce. Everyone ate, drank and laughed late into the night.

Laura in all her home-made crowned glory.

Chef's Table NYC

Last week I worked with two of the chefs that are part of Chef's Table NYC to get some food beauties for the company's website. Savory dishes by Chef Thomas Roosen and sweet by Chef Molly Pam.

Saltie

The very first time I devoured a sandwich at Saltie the weather was much like it is today; gray, rainy and dreary. And now, every time I have to pop my umbrella, I crave it. Ohhh that perfectly baked ciabatta bread sprinkled with just the right amount of coarse sea salt, and those pickled veggies that pair so exquisitely with some creamy feta cheese on my favorite, the Scuttlebutt.  I drool just thinking about it. I also must admit that their signage always makes me chuckle and the pastries finish off your Salite as the most delicious bite of sweet.

Prospect, Fort Greene

Recently I went to Prospect in Fort Green to find out "What's Good Today" for Nona Brooklyn. I got to taste (and photograph) the best butternut squash soup I've ever had. Read the full interview with Chef Kyle on Nona Brooklyn.

Chef Kyle McClelland, of Prospect in Fort Greene.
Butternut squash soup poured over charred espresso marshmallows and root beer cream with toasted hazelnuts.
