Consider Bardwell Farm, West Pawlet, Vermont
I woke to the sound of pouring rain pounding the pond behind the farmhouse. My vision of capturing the goats grazing on grass wet with dew, a misty blue fog in the morning air, the sun rising from behind the Vermont hills was, welllll, shot dead. With my lens poking through a hole in the plastic bag rubber banded around my camera, I met Margot in the field where the goats were anxiously awaiting her arrival for morning milking. As I started shooting and thinking more about the farm, I began to see the rain as the perfect tool to help illustrate the passion and commitment that goes into the Consider Bardwell cheeses. The animals have to be milked and fed and cared for every single day, no matter what the weather is, or the holiday or anything else going on in life.
